Zodiac Inflatable vs No-Name Inflatable???

Went with the Mercury 310 - which is 10'-2" Sport Model. I bought it for $899 - plus shipping. It is a leftover 07. I am looking for a motor now. Leaning toward the 6HP. Barry - how do you like the 6hp with 2 people in the boat?

Skolbe, whats the dinks max hp rating?

Have you had a chance to look at any engines yet?

The max is 15hp. I am leaning to a 6hp after communicating with barryg. Sounds like it balances weight to performance I am looking for.

How many people will you be taking..I found the 9'6" that I have does really well with the 6hp for myself and one other male friend and I weigh about 200lbs and my friend weighs about 230. When I took his daughter who only weighs about 80 lbs, you can tell the difference as to how much faster it moves. If you have 3 or 4 people, you might want to go with a slightly bigger engine, maybe an 8 or 9 hp, unless weight of the engine is an issue, as the 6hp weighs about 55lbs, and the 8-10 is about 85 or so..

Just myself and the wife. Occasionally a dog when we get another one.

I have just rec'd the Aakron AAK250 (8'2") with airmat floor ($825), appears to be a nice quality constructed dinghy. Have it on the bow at the moment, it fits nicely facing the stern with the cones splitting the cabin hatch. Attachment is by the Sundeck brackets and rail, which I used marine grade bungy cords to secure. The motor is another issue, it's a Suzuki 2.5hp 4S at 30#s...may have some shipping problems.

I was in the same situation earlier this year....ended up with the Mercury 310 Hypalon, 9.9 Mercury, Weaver davit system and the Weaver Lever for the motor. This is the absolute best setup I could have imagined for my family (me, the admiral, 10 year old boy, 7 year old boy, 95 lb. dog).

The Weaver lever is a great contraption that allows me to stow the dinghy with the motor on the it by swiveling it without taking it off and is so stinking easy to stow I can't believe it! It only takes 2-3 minutes to haul everything out of the water or even less to launch! I feel like we stole the motor from the marina...they were roughly $700 less than anywhere I was able to find it. The hypalon gave me a 10 year warranty to boot...may have been more $$ than the PVC, but in my opinion the extra 5 years of warranty was well worth it.

So far this summer, the $3200 or so invested in the dinghy and motor has been about the best money I have spent since getting involved with this obsession we call boating!
