Zodiac cruising

I agree. We don't have a Zodiac, but do our cruising in our 13' Whaler. It's fun to run up and down the Columbia then explore up the Yakima river. We haven't taken it through any of the many locks on the rivers, but that would be easy to do.

We did do a circumnavigation of Lake Washington in the Seattle area and also once did a 62mile round trip cruise the length of Lake Pend O'rielle in northern Idaho.

Ya GOTTA love cruising in a small boat.

As you (GFC) would say "It didn't happen if you don't have pics"!

The best! I do an early morning solo cruise 3-4 times a week as long as it's not raining.

There was an article in the Boat Test newsletter today about electric Zodiacs.

OK, here are the pics from that trip. This first one is Bayview, ID at the south end of the lake. This is where we rented a cabin as a base for our stay.

This is a shot of the US Navy's top secret submarine warfare shop. The lake is VERY deep. The top secret sub can leave the shed with the door down by submerging and going out beneath the door.

This is just a shot of the "rough" water and the rocky shoreline.

This is the west shore of the lake where most of the cottages are built.

Here we are at the marina in Sand Point, 31 miles from Bayview at the north end of the lake.

Part of the reason I wanted to take the trip was to see what kind of mileage (mpg) the boat got (10mpg) and just because everyone I talked to said it couldn't be done with a 13' boat. Wrong.

I’m surprised that boat is so close to the building. We are near Aberdeen Proving Ground, army weapons testing facility and if you get too close to shore, men with guns come running out of the woods and warn you to get away.

Pirate Lady, that boat (Searay?) is part of their setup. That odd shaped boat next to it is used to test equipment on deep water dives. Doesn't need to be hydrodynamic because it won't be going fast or far. It's simply a test bed.

You piqued my interest on these electric Zodiacs. I checked out their website and specs. Unfortunately the 1,918 lbs is about triple the weight that my hydraulic platform is rated for.

Buttonhook Bay is the BEST place to hang out for a weekend. Three finger docks, hiking, swimming beach a small hike away, protected cove and just a fun place to hang for a while. We use to go there almost every weekend if we weren't at Priest Lake!!

Good morning! Hi Mike!! Hi all!
We anchored out on the Columbia this weekend in our new to us 460 Sundancer and our new Zodiac Yachtline 360 dinghy. Had a great time, in spite of all the wakes from the waterski and towing toys!
