zink spray on the prop shafts

last season i did not spray my prop shafts and at the end of the season they were loaded with barnacles. I did however bottom paint my trim tabs and rudders and exhaust only to find that the trim tab bottoms were covered with barnacles, does the zink spray control the growth on the shafts, or am i wasting my time?

Are you talking about the petit zinc barnacle block?

yes, that is the one. I have been told that I have to remove all the paint from my rudders and running gear. I tried but tono avail. So I am just going to spray my shafts with the Petit. Just was wondering if it will help?
