ZF transmission replacement

Has anyone had a recent ZF 63 tranny replaced in a 360 -390 sundancer? What did cost? Having to have mine replaced from a grounding.

We have a member with 390DA who had vibration issue that lasted for a long time. If I recall correctly, he replaced the trasmition as part of troubleshooting. Maybe someone else can give you more details and you'll be able PM him for price. He had all work done by MM, so I guess you can just contact MM yourself and ask for an estimate.

Our ZF's are around 15000 ea. but if you ran aground, that should be covered by insurance

The ZF-63 is going to be more in the $6K price area each, not including labor or haul out. Depending upon access on the 360DA, the labor cost could be as little as $1500 and as much as $5K if the cockpit deck, seating, etc has to be removed.

I just had to have one of my transmissions replaced. It cost me just under 5,000 w/ a rebuilt transmission from Merc at 3,300. I am not sure if I have the same one as you do, but it sure hurt the ole bank account! There went any of the upgrades I wanted to do over the winter!

Thanks for all of the information, the quote so far is about 4k for a rebuilt from Merc, total cost with all of the labor and shaft and prop work is over 8k.

What is the reduction ratio on your present transmission? I have a spare ZF-63 V-drive transmission, so if the ratios match, I can save you a couple thousand. Let me know...

I had a transmission replaced on a 2007 Sundancer 38 the year before last. Cost for a new transmission was $2500.00 and $1600 for labor.

Thanks Hans was that a rebuilt for 2500? I have been quoted at least 6k for brand new but 2300 for rebuilt with warranty form Merc. MasterFab thanks but the insurance company and B&E are taking care of it.

Noop, no rebuild, it was brand new. Turns out that I didn't need the transmission. Problem was misdiagnosed but the mechanic. That sucked!
