I believe you will find the HSW800 and ZF85 the same gear except the ZF85 has some improvements.Does anyone have a pdf maintenance manual for this transmission, or know where I can get either a pdf or hard copy?
Looks like the current ZF part number for the filter kit is 463772. If you google it you’ll come up with a couple of places that sell the kit. Including filter and O rings for about $40.00 each. That is the one I looked at as well. I believe you can clean the filters with mineral spirits letting them dry overnight before installing them. But if you find a place that has them let me know. Also if you have an extractor recommendation I would appreciate it!! Any of the manual hand pump ones better then any other?
What was the part number that ZF provided? Was it the same as in the post above?
Also, how much fluid did each transmission take? What ATF did you use? I'll be changing mine soon and just found out that when the boat was serviced in the spring when I took delivery it had Valvoline MaxLife ATF full synthetic in it. Not sure if that is recommended by ZF since like mentioned they have the European versions. No issues with what's in it currently(about 75 hrs)
Thanks dtfeld. Guarantee the fluid on mine has never been changed so going to tackle this in the spring.I have same transmissions. I spoke to ZF a couple weeks ago. Any quakity DexMerc as i recall. 7.4 quarts each. Call it 2 gallons
John.
I’ve been busy with work and accumulating the necessary pieces, parts and supplies to do a number of jobs once I drain the ATF. Getting that thread and posting how to put a drain is on my list, but will be a couple more weeks. I’ll post picks and part numbers once I get going.
Looks like not much more is going to get done on my boat until then either.Hate to say, its going to be after Christmas.
Are you sure it wasn't 7/8 with paint on it?Thanks Frank. That looks like a perfect setup.
I have a Jabsco bucket pump too and that’s pretty much what I had in mind.
My drain plug has a 22mm hex head so I’m thinking that I probably have metric threads.
I should have checked it while I had the plug out last month while charging the fluid and filter in both of them.
