Thanks to a few members on this forum (you know who you are) I learned of a way to repair scored Zeus pod prop shafts by having them them machined and then thermal coated with ceramic so that the seals no longer score the shafts. Shafts were removed yesterday by Cummins who handed them over to me, who then nervously, and carefully packaged and shipped them to the west coast. Well UPS store did the packaging with me standing over them. I tried and tried and there are no pictures on the Internet of Zeus prop shafts. So if you’re wondering what they look like, here they are. Remember, counter rotating props require an inner and outer shaft so this is the pair from my starboard pod after cleaning off the gear lube best we could. They are freaking heavy, for their apparent size. About 40 lbs of dead weight for each pair. Had to ship them in two huge boxes due to all the padding. Work is being done now and I am very nervous as you can imagine.
