My owners manual calls for the u-joints to be replaced at 1000 hours or 2 years, whichever occurs first.

With only 140 hours after two seasons, this service schedule seems aggressive.

Does anyone have experience with this yet on their Zeus drives? Any input from your dealer?

Thanks

Cardan shaft drive-lines when designed and and used within the guidelines on companies like Dana Spicer have no issues doing 2000-5000 hours between overhaul. Much has to doing with the operating environment they are in--With saltwater dripping on them, they may fail from "Marine Age" long before engine hours take them out.. Someone that knows u-joints shaft could easily make an inspection and tell you just what you may need to do..

And to answer your question--Yes, IMO, that maintenance schedule is way too generalized to follow as it is written...

A link that would show many marine applications where shafts similar to yours run 1000's of hours between overhaul / replacement with just some simple greasing when needed ( one or two pumps per 500 hours) ..
