How do you keep boating records and experiences?

Better yet, blog the pix and text, then send the link to people who
a) you know and trust
b) care

I log fuel and hours on a spreadsheet.

I keep all my receipts in a folder. It helps that my mechanic only sends two bills a year with accumalated charges. The bill is always big. . . but it lags the actual work by several monthes so I don't mind.

I also routinely download my chartplotter (garmin 545) to my PC. Kinda a cool to see where we have been. :) I maintain "tracks" of key routes on the unit we don't use often the unit so I have it the next time I go there. I blow away the "tracks" I repeat every week to keep he clutter down.

Other than you guys - don't think I know anyone who cares. Come to think of it, I am not sure anyone here cares :).....

Same here; Keep an Excel spreadsheet of hours put on the boat, fuel put into it, and other comments like where we went, what we fished for and caught, what lures I used, etc. Also keep the GPS tracks of good trips to plot in Google Maps or Earth and send to others who might care...like this: http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=40512

I also keep an excel spreadsheet that I made up myself.
One is for daily trip logs, and another for fuel usage, totals, etc.
I log what can be put on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.

I keep receipts for everything as well - but......

Refuse to add them up..........
I'd rather just not know.

I use Ship's Log Deluxe to keep track of all of the issues raised during this discussion - and it is not expensive.

Thanks to the author of this poll, I got the idea to start a BLOG, which starts with a trip this summer. [/quote]

Same with me:thumbsup: http://castawayswebsite.blogspot.com/

I started one as well and keep a written log also. I will log my trips with information such as weather and sea conditions, trip time and fuel usage, and any events on the way.

In the back of the book I keep phone numbers and boat names of friends I boat with.

IF there were balls to be given out I would need some red ones since I havn't done much of anything, I was even given a really nice log book. I guess I better get my act together or I might be kicked out of the boating club.

I dont do squat for the boat itself. I go by hours to know the next maint that needs to be done.

Everything we do is on the camera and videotape, and mostly in our heads.

I have sat in my couch and pretended to be Captain Kirk though sometimes..."Captain's log, stardate twenty four ten"
