You leave your keys on your boat! Don’t deny it.

When I had my boat surveyed before I had bought it the owner forgot to leave the keys. In about 5 Min. the surveyor had a set of keys from another boat and had it turned on. As someone else said keys only keep the honest person from getting in. I leave the keys hidden in my boat. if someone has planned to steel your boat or break into it not having keys is not going to stop him the damage will just be more. Carry good insurace and hope it don't happen.

Always leave them on the boat in the ignition turn on, and never lock the cabin door... Then again, I am not in marina...

I'm more concerned about someone "borrowing" my boat for a joy ride and leaving it abandoned vs. flat out stealing it in the traditional sense.

My wife and I each have a cabin key on our keychains so I now keep the keys locked in the cabin. Not foolproof but an added barrier.

in the ignition turn on,
Why do you leave it turned on ?. Doesn't that run your hour meters up ?? .

I always keep a full set of keys (ignitions, dock box, dinghy lock, etc.) hidden on the boat in case I forget to grab the set from home. It's happened a couple of times.

Battery solinoids are off, so no electric... I live in a neighborhood of "good fellows" if you know what I mean :smt101... So no one takes anything... I don't know of anyone on my street that locks their home doors...

You'll be surprise how easy to start the boat if you don't have their keys.. I had to replaced my key igintion 2 years ago, it went bad.. So when I replaced it, it was so easy. I can look for old sea ray that I like, go to boat store and buy key igintion that match the model and year, go to that boat and pronto, I'm gone with your boat.

it really doesnt matter if you leave key or not, someone who really want your boat can go any boat store, get the part, and steal your boat.

Hey, Why is there a boat between you and your tow??? Is that guy crazy???

I leave the keys in the boat 24/7. My boat is slipped right outside of his kitchen window.

The marina owner uses my tug as the rescue boat for the lake. :smt001
