Soooo the saga of the stolen gas continues......

Seems our gas wasn't stolen, someone has been taking our boat out. We went down on Sunday and a guy that stays on the dock on his boat 5 nights a week came down to talk to us very upset. It seems on Wed our boat was out and who ever was driving it was trying to beat the storm and came in very close to the dock and threw a big wake, plus almost hit the dock. We explained that we weren't here on Wed night. And unfortunately have no idea who was here.

our cabin door was locked when we left last weekend, I made sure of it about 5 different times. This jerk, smoked in our cabin, burnt a little hole in the carpit, drank my husbands Canadian Mist and my whole bottle of vodka, peed and didn't flush and ate our food. And god knows what else. And used up another quarter tank of GAS.

We took our ignition keys home with us this time. Plus we chained our cabin door shut and chained our boat to the dock. So he or she will get the message they are NOT welcome.:smt013

Holy Crap!!!!! man I would ram two pencils into his eyes.

can you believe some one has the cojones to walk onto our boat and take it out like they own it? I am so shocked and angry!!!

My husband wants to lay it wait in the cabin, with the lights off and take him out. I prefer not to have my husband in jail so we went with the chain idea.

Simply unbelievable.

I'm with your husband on this one. I think I'd wait around with a few buddies and have a nice "chat" with the new guest.

What kind of security do you have at your docks? That is just plain crazy.

That is plain crazy and unimaginable. Time for some surveillance. Where is this happening.

we have a locked gate with a code pad and a guy who walks the dock once a night. No cameras or extra security. I don't know of a marina down here that has that stuff, but I think we may have to add our own. We have been at this marina now for four years and we have never had a problem, but it's a problem now.

That's just insane, what does your dockmaster have to say about it? You may want to go read the "pirates" thread...

I would want to catch the A$$Hole.....stick around with a camcorder and get some pics....with the local police on speed dial....

we went down for the day on Sunday and ended up staying and doing just that. Chatting with the people on our dock. Amazing enough no one has actually seen the person driving the boat. He or she comes during the middle of the week when we aren't there and only one of our dock neighbors is.

However, he is a retired policeman and now that he knows that it's not us, he said he will call the police right away. But now that we put the chains on and took the ignition keys with us. Who ever it is won't be able to go out again and will realize that we have figured out some one has been using our boat.

That is crazy! I would certainly set up some kind of trap too to figure out who it is. If you do find them I doubt you would have any luck getting any money out of them to fix the burns or replace the fuel.

Do you have internet at the marina? If so, go buy a cheap IP camera and record to you homes local HD 24 hrs/day....

I think the castle doctrine applies.. at least it does in my state. You can shoot this person if the enter your boat. Get a gun and happy hunting:grin:

no internet at the marina, it's pretty bare bones. We are lucky to have fresh water. Husband left a message for the marina owners and hopefully they will come up with something. I have a feeling that when they find our boat is no longer available for their use they will go look for someone elses boat to take.

he really wanted to do that, and I can understand that because I was feeling pretty violent towards this person also. However, think about getting blood out of your cabin carpet and headliner. What a mess.

Lonetta...that is terrible. I would be soooo mad. Keep a cool head and do not make any decisions you may regret latter.

So sorry to hear about all of this.

We had our house broken into a few years ago and the lagging sense of having our personal space violated still lingers with is to this day. Your boat is a very personal part your life. A space where we all build memories and family and INVITED guests and friends. Not a hang out for an unkown.

Good luck with the chains and added attention at the marina. Hopefully they vatch this goon.

Sam's Club sells a motion light with a camera and voice synthesizer built in. Its inexpensive and pretty cool......

The camera takes one photo every 10 seconds the light is on. THe image is recorded on an SD card which you can then remove from the unit and view on your computer. The voice is selectible to one of 2 pre-recorded messages like "You are in a secure area and being photographed", or turned off.

For $97 you might keep your husband out of jail, but my tenedency would to make a very lasting impression on this jerk.

I thought I'd heard it all; this is unbelievable.
Well, if I were lucky enough to "catch" him in the act,
I'd make him stand on the bow (at gunpoint, of course).
Head out a few miles from land, then say "Hope you're a good swimmer".
I think that's how they did it in the old days...
I just hope he doesn't get pizzed that you took away his free retreat and vandalize it...
