So, I'm planning on getting a boat. Pretty sure I'm going with a sundancer 260.
but I'm thinking..maybe a 40-50' carver yacht..or something along those lines, and living on the thing. I work overseas for 2-3 mo and home for 1-2 mo..haven't owned a house since my divorce and renting for $1600/mo for a place I'm hardly at anyway.
why not get a beautiful boat and live on that while I'm home?
is that feasible in NE?
any suggestions on good marinas?
any and all thoughts are appreciated.

I believe there are ( or at least used to be) year-round live aboards at Constitution Marina. It's pretty bleak in mid winter, but can be done. You'll have to supplement the standard heat pump with something - a friend of mine has an oil fired boiler plumbed into his heating system, and ran extra plumbing though cold spaces, like closets and bilge areas, to keep the chill out.

Think about all that running while you are away and having someone to keep an eye on her For you. Those systems that remain unwinterized will be vulnerable if the power goes out during a deep freeze. Of course you could winterize before you go and recommission when you return.

Thanks for the replys..yeah it doesn't seem like it would work.
