Last night was the first time the Mrs and I actually sat down and listened to McCain speak. We were impressed, he actually has a little personality and seems like a good man. Prior to watching him last night we had only see brief clips of him.

Bring every single troop home, close all foreign military bases, and work on our infrastructure. Put the troops into protecting our borders, working on our roads and bridges, supplementing the police in high crime areas, teaching, and finding illegal immigrants.

Im tired of being the world police. It worked years ago, it doesnt work anymore. TIme to bring the boys home from EVERYWHERE.

Politically, this would be what I am looking for.

The VP McCain chose has pretty much ruined him for me. She is a creationist wacko with no experience except a state where the population is less than some parties I have, 5 kids (one of who is pregnant and is being forced to marry her bf) who believes god put us here 4000 years ago. COmpletely against abortion even in cases of rape? Great choice.

Obama is crappy too, of course, but is seemingly a little more sensible so far.

Neither is getting a vote for me.

Our 2 party system is getting worse and worse.

I am now seeking opinions on the 36DA. Any big mechanical issues I should know about? Should I have V drives or or stern drive? Can I get away without a bow thruster?
(Hanna will roll through on late Saturday. I plan on spending some quality time on Yachtworld Saturday night until the inevitable power outage takes out the Router).

So I guess you wouldn't agree with this:

Invade Mexico and Canada. Kick all the foreigners out of both places (the english speaking Canadians in western Canada can stay). Keep all the oil in those countries for ourselves. Send a note to the rest of the world: "Do whatever you want to each other, but leave us alone. If anyone cooks off a nuke, we will nuke you all off of the planet. Thanks and have a nice day.":grin:

There is so much ignorance on both sides that it is totally scary. The pandering is pretty bad as well. May as well throw a dart on election day.

I watched McCain's speech, and a few things made impressions.First, it was notable how low key the audience reaction was. I am also getting pretty tired of the whole POW angle. It just got repeated too many times this week. I liked his talk about regaining the trust of the American people. I really liked his talk on spending. Not sure I believe his ability to get the job done. His pick of Palin does not inspire confidence that he is (a) thinking past November 5th and (b) will not cave to the Republican conservative right wing down the road. In my mind, the jury is still out on Palin's reformer credentials.
 
The audience was low key because he sucks at making speeches. I think everyone knew that from the start. It still was one of his better speeches though.
 
I personally liked the talk of his service to our country in both War and Peace. It speaks volumes as to the kind of man he is. Actions speak louder than words.

Actually, they tried and fought like hell to control immigration....what they found out was the consequences of having an undersized military with inadequate weaponry ......Hmmm....didn't B-rack talk about reducing our military?????

And right now our Border Patrol cops are out-gunned by the narco-terrorists in Mexico, as well as hindered by rules of engagement that leave them little latitude to do their jobs.

emasculated and hamstrung... Almost to the level of the local Mall Security. "Stop,,,, or I'll yell STOP again". As a matter of fact, McCain should pledge to pardon Campian and Ramos (sp?)his first day in office or better yet GWB should do it before he leaves office
