Y pipe trouble

not really. Y pipe is installed with 4 bolts. most holes caused by the flapper valve dropping down the pipe

If hole is not too big use JB Weld. I had a small hole in my Y 5 years ago used this and never leaked again. If u have to replace out comes the engine. Worth a try for under 10 bucks. good luck , rob

I had both y pipes go bad last year within 3 weeks of each other....between that and other problems, it was a very expensive summer.

As for causes, I was told dropped flappers as was mentioned above, and also that they wear and need to be replaced (seemed to have been my problem).

Either way, good luck and if the boat is in the water, take care of it right away. When mine went the bilge pump was cycling on every minute or so...not something you want to leave.
