Exactly how do you remove the xmd1 unit. I have the removal tools but am not sure of the process. Any help would be appreciated.

One of the simplest mobile audio head units of all to remove. There are silver plastic caps on each side. Remove those and you will find 4 phillips head screws.

still might have a brace holding up the rear. you'll probably need one of the DA guys to tell you if there is an acess panel.

XMD units do not have rear supports.

From factory they may have installed perforated strip of cheap steel brace to support the weight.

might not have been installed but there is a screw dead center of the back of the unit for this! One of the new units I bought had the strap and screw included.
