Had the opportunity to go to Put in Bay to what they call Christmas in July After all the tour buses that came in from Detroit and all the extra police presences plus the Golf cart traffic jams we ended up pulling out Saturday evening because of the weather report for Sunday morning and the fact that no one wanted to go in to the town to deal with the ciaos.

My last Christmas in July at PIB was in 2010. Even then it was massively overcrowded. Some friends sat outside of the Miller Ferry on Catawba on Saturday morning and counted 31 buses. Numerous police dogs were there and several people were arrested for marijuana possession. A couple were arrested while actually smoking it.

PIB chamber commerce and OTG travel of Detroit and there $45 dollar bus tour has ruined this event. If they are not careful and this becomes normal every weekend thing then you wont have a problem with getting dockage at B dock because the boating community will stop going there.I hope PIB camber of commerce remembers where their bread and butter has came from all these years because this will ruin the Bay.So hats off to PIB for turning this into an event I will avoid and turning it into a R rated weekend and not in a good way.Heads up to PIB if you need bus loads of law enforcement just encase something might go wrong chances are something will and when it does it will be ugly. Considering how tight the boats are docked and a crowd getting out of hand this could be real bad.

Everytime a small enjoyable thing ends up getting way blown out of proportion and it becomes a thing normal people stop going to due to safety and just really not wanting to deal with it..This is how I feel about jobbie and now raft off..many other enjoyable places that I dont have to worry about my passengers safety and the safety of my boat.

There have been events over the years in our area on and around Lake Ontario that start small and as they gain popularity they attract the idiots and ultimately something awful happens

Sodus Bay has their “blow off day”, which used to be a gathering of all local waitstaff the week after July 4th to relax. This year it got so big and ugly that someone got stabbed in the neck with a broken beer bottle. I’m assuming it will be shut down next year

We used to have Aquapalooza at Belle Maer, until the crowds got so big and so many people we pulled out of the water passed out that it was cancelled. It was just a matter of time before someone was going to turn up dead.
