I authorize my card being charged for the offer I have selected and agree to automatic renewal and billing for the plan I have chosen. I agree to the XM Customer Agreement and Privacy Policy and certify that I am at least 18 years of age.

Looks like you actually get a discount when you do the Yearly plan like you have done. That works out to $1.49 a month. I may consider that for my truck. I probably won't turn the boat back on until they let me put the Sirius tuner on the XM account though.

Sorry Jason you were talking monthly i was doing bu the year and no I didn't sighn up the boys says it all

I am not trying to defend Sirius/XM in any way here but it should be known that this is just them offloading the fees they are charged to play the songs by the "Artists".

I seem to recall reading an article stating they have to pay a royalty fee every single time a song is played whereas traditional radio stations only have to pay per month or flat rate or something like that.

Don't remember all the details so I will stop at that but there is a difference.

Get an Android phone or Iphone and download the pandora app, free internet radio and you can create your own stations :)

Pandora works with Blackberries as well. I have used it as a few times on the boat through the aux input on the head unit.

Awesome!! Thanks FDM1!! I am not so good with phones and their capabilities. I am still using the Verizon Dare that I bought when it came out. I plan on giving this to my wife and getting the Droid as the Iphone is not available on Verizon. Thanks again.
Todd

Gunn you don't look at your bill???? OMG let me send mine to your account...LOL

:smt001 Well, I have a beautiful wife that handles that sort of thing for me. I guess she must love me enough to continue paying for it, as she continues to listen to static radio in her vehicle. :smt001

And I did get to listen to an absolutely amazing Howard Stern 'Billy Joel at the piano' interview the other day while driving to work!

Iphone with Pandora!! It beats FM and XM!

Second THAT!!! Except I am on Slacker, $3.99 per month for unlimited skips.. Love it.

Sirius ruined XM for me I lost the handful of stations that I listened to. UPOP, Latin stations, and BPM were either lost or changed. Then came all the uncensored music and shallow playlists... They lost 4 subs from our family and I don't miss it in the least. I still don't know why in the world one needs 19 rock stations...

I love the listen free offers! Reminds me why I don't have it nor want it anymore...

Too Bad, I truly liked XM before it cost too much for too little.

I'll end my rantings here... Thanks!!!

"Free" radio does not pay a royalty to the performer, but does have to pay a royalty to the composer. The performers are considered to be receiving free exposure to their work and therefore that's compensating to them. The record companies aren't too thrilled with that. They have been trying to change it the last few years.

Sirius / XM aren't free, they're subscription services providing copyrighted content and therefore must pay the composer and performer for the right to broadcast said copyrighted work.

I tend to agree with many of you. Post-merger, the quality has gone down significantly. They had a few decent DJs who knew enough to speak minimally. When they did have something to say, they they talked about the program material intelligently!! Now they just babble on inanely. Dropped Sirius on the boat this summer. Didn't make sense to keep it since weekends is all Casey Caseem all the time. Yuck. Connected cable from the AUX IN jacks to the helm area and in the cabin so I can play the iPod or Blackberry though the system. It's not CD quality, but it's still better than FM.

I've been keeping Sirius in the Navi mostly for weather and traffic information. But I've found that the Weather.com app gives better weather information and Google maps app has better traffic data. So why do I need Sirius?
