Looking to buy a used trailer for my 2006 260 Sundancer. Live in Minnesota.

Thanks,

I have been looking also in the NW.

What I found... used is really used and almost the same price as new. I going to go new without all the used trailer gremlins.

Lots of great deals out there right now

I'de be interested in knowing what you end up finding out there (in both new and used). We are thinking of getting a trailer so I can do some of the maintenance on the boat (really hard to some of the outdrive maintenance with it in the water all the time).

Here's quote from LoadMaster for a new trailer. No luck finding used. Still interested in used if anyone has one.

The model 270T616CB is:
Constructed out of a 6" frame
Equipped with two 6,000 lb. drop center axles
16" load range D Goodyear radial tires
GVWR of 12,600 lbs. with a Net Payload of 10, 901 lbs.
Direct Price of $4,940.00 plus tax if picked up or delivery.

Electric over Hydraulic Brakes would add $650 to trailer.

I'de be interested in finding out what you end up with. I've been casually persuing craigslist in our area for trailers and was under the impression that I needed something with triple axles to handle the weight... never thought of looking for one with just dual axles.

It's a little easier for a '99-'04 as those years are a decent amount lighter. I have a 10,000lb GVW trailer - equates to a bit over 8,000lbs for carrying capacity. Mine is a dual axle.

Hello! I'm new to the forum and noticed this post. I own a small boat dealership in Omaha, NE. If you are interested in a brand new trailer, I can help you out...no matter where you live.

I am an authorized dealer for Heritage trailers and I have a 2009 Heritage for my personal 2001 Sea Ray 260 Sundancer. It tows like a dream!

Right off the bat, I'd be happy to pass along a 10% savings to all member of this site. For example, a 2010 Heritage tandem axle trailer for a 260 Sundancer, painted and graphics to match your boat, heavy duty torsion axles, surge disc brakes on all 4 wheels, carpeted bunks, chrome wheels, Goodyear tires, square tubing, LED lights, greaseless Vault bearings (no more grease gun!), and a mounted, matching spare...this trailer would cost around $5,790 after the 10% discount. This price is if you pick it up at Heritage in Illinois yourself (saves you money). Delivery can be arranged for a fee.

Let me know if I can answer any questions or get estimates for other boats. I'd be happy to help. :smt001

Thanks!

I have towed a 2005 260, same boat as yours for a couple of years and I would recommend electric over hydraulic brakes without question and I would also go triple axle to lower the center of gravity and and overall height. I was 13'-3" with a dual axle trailer. The triple axle tends to have smaller diameter wheels lowering the trailer....would also make it easier at ramps to load

Probably borderline for your '06 which is I believe over a 1,000lbs more than mine.[/URL]

I'd have to agree. I towed a 22' Crownline on a two-year-old tandem aluminum trailer once...ONCE! Way too much flex! It just seemed weak, klunky, loud and very unstable. Plus it only had 2 bunks. I just MIGHT be willing to buy an aluminum trailer for a yard trailer, but that's about it.

The old saying never changes... You get what you pay for. That's the reason we all own Sea Rays and not Bayliners, right?

That price is a little more (by about $400) than what I paid 3 years ago for an anodized aluminum and stainless steel triple axle trailer with hydraulic brakes that I use to carry my 2006 260 Sundancer. I ordered it new and, as I recall, it was less than $200 more to go with three rather than two axles. The trailer works great and I have no complaints.

A word of caution, be sure that your dealer agrees to fit the boat to the trailer as part of the price. I am glad I did. After first loading the boat on the trailer I could not go over 40 mph as I drove to the trailer company because it fishtailed so bad. They had weight scales and a lift they used to move the boat around as they adjusted the post to the optimal position to get the correct tongue weight so that it pulls straight and true.
