Boat Info
2010 Sundancer 390
2016 Sea Hunt Ultra 211
Engines
Twin 8.1l of gas guzzling iron
Looking for one of the above models (or similar size).

Preferences:

- near NC
- v-drives
- large hardtop
- can NOT exceed 41’, 6”
- 2004 or newer

I don’t really care if it is a salt or freshwater vessel as long as it has been cared for properly.

My budget is $200k.

Good luck with the hunt. I'm in New Bern and looking for my next boat also.

With your OAL limit I think you're going to be looking for 350's or 370's. It looks like even the 380 will top out over 41.5' in a 2004+.

If you're limited by a dock and are not allowed to overhang you may also want to consider future dinghy use. That could further impact your choice of boat...

'06 up 38 has a partial hardtop and was the replacement for the earlier 360 - the '04-'05 390 became the 40 starting in '06 - large hardtop, but a bit heavy for gas motors, many came with the small cummins though - Good luck with your search, either should meet your size constraint

The 2004 390, the 2006+ 38(not the 380), the 2006+ 40 and the 2010+ 390 would all work.

Wife agrees and prefers to use paddle boards instead of a dinghy. If that changes she knows we would have to find a new dock or use in inflatable dinghy.

06+ 38 is 39.5 LOA, and was named a 395 in certain later years. Mine tops out at 31.5 knots and cruises 20 to 23 knots with 370 hp Mercruisers. 21 degrees of dead rise so not the most efficient planing hull, but the trade off is a reasonable ride.

Diesels command a premium in this boat because of there rarity, and if they are your choice then better value could be found in a larger model.

I actually prefer gas, but have kept that out of the discussion because people tend to freak out whenever gas is mentioned in this size range. This boat will mostly be used to go spend the weekend anchored somewhere with the occasional trip maybe 100-150 miles away. Top Speed is not really a concern for me. Comfortably cruising at 20-25 knots seems pleasant to me.

Boat size is limited by my dock so there is no real point in discussing larger boats. Due to recent hurricanes in my area docks are more limited than boats.
