Just got my bill...to pull the outdrive, drain it, pressure test it overnight then vacuum test it the next night, plus refill it, check my engine alignment and replace my snap strap that holds the bow window open...

$129 with tax!

They charged one hour plus $.50 for a snap and $10 for gear lube then tax....wow! Sounds like I couldn't have gotten a better deal. I brought them two cases of beer when I picked it up.

I hope you bought them Heineken.
I asked what they drink - the one guy only drinks corona (the one who worked on my boa) so I bought him corona, then brought sam adams for the rest. I certainly wasnt going to show up with a 30 box of 'stones!

Oh, and I called on Saturday asking to bring it in before I leave for most of the rest of the month for work trips, and they shuffled around for me.

Good/reputable mechanics are hard to find.... I just had my starboard starter replaced for$359.00 all inclusive. Doesn't sound all that fantastic until you look in the engine room, which was designed for (2) 5.7, and had surgically inserted 7.4's. I took one look at it and decided that it would be less expensive to pay someone else to do it.....

If you've got a good mechanic, take care of him...

I pay AU$80 for the gear lube alone for a Bravo II.
What is about the average for the same in the USA ??
I'm sure we get ripped off here in Australia.

My marina has a minimum one hour charge, so it would have been the same to just change the lube......80AUD = about 65USD, so you would pay more at them to have the gear lube replaced. But I had it in to them once to look at overheating, they took it out for a ride and didn't even charge me.

129? you leave out a number or something I can't even get them to change the oil for that cheap.

About $50 U.S. dollars for the Merc lube for my Bravo II (I change it myself).
