would you take a 240SD to the Bahamas?

I think my boat is broken then and I'm out of warranty now:smt021

I'll need to check the bow and mid locker storage but I know for a fact that the deck train hole goes right into the bilge no hoses attached to it.

Yes, The Anchor, floor/ski lockers & the floor of the head drain to the bilge. The decks should seal good around the locker doors and the cowling around the bilge. The two overboard drains look like they go to the bilge, but they should most definitely have hoses routing them to the overboard thru-hull fittings. If you don't have it you need to talk with Sea Ray about it. IMHO.

Hmmm I'll be at the boat this weekend and will definitly check this. I'm petty sure the deck drain goes right into the bilge no hose I remember this because I thought it was stupid The drain is right at the step/door to the swim platform but then I also remeber being out fishing in the Tampa Bay and it was a little choppy and I wanna say as the boat rocked water would come into the boat via that drain (was not alot of water maybe a cup at most).

Yes, you should also have one on the port side just in front of the engine cowling that drains to the port side thru-hull. Also make sure that you have caulking around the bottom of the engine cowling. If you doing any major work on the engine the cowling is removed, but I've seen some that have not re-caulked it when they put it back on so all the water would just go under it and into the bilge instead of going down the overboard drains.

Bow canvas is a nice idea when there is no waves breaking over your bow. Stuff that bow into the back of a running sea and take a wall of green water over your boat and that canvas will be in your face blinding you and give you one more thing to have to overcome in dicey conditions. And no your crew will not jump to to solve that problem, because thell will all be on their cellphones calling the CG to come get them off this boat!

Boarding water from the bow will strip everyhing off your boat, enough will strip off the windscreen and most of the topside hardware. You just don't get it, and angry sea will take you to the limits and leave you there.

Chad,
You have made some great comments on this thread, but it appears you have missed one of the major items. Nobody has ever said to go out in blue water in bad weather. I've always stated the you need to have an ongoing plan with go/no go points all the way across. I agree a 240SD has no business being in angry large seas.

Chad, what's the deal man. The sky is not falling.
Let these good folks question and learn what they need to learn. Some will learn, that no way will they take a bow rider out in the ocean. Some, it'll just stir their interest more, and make their desire bigger. The equation here is that they are "learning". That's what interests me. If you name call and harase, then you create a hostile atmosphere and the learning stops! You can better help by providing constructive advise, with the error toward caution.
Now when the discussion turns toward actually doing it, then becomes a situation where serious preparaiton and care be taken. If I've learned anything in my years of life, it's that if you challenge someone by telling them they can't do it, they will.
