Would you board another boat without permission?

When you get a chance, ask the owner of the boat you boarded....I'm sure he'll thank you...I would....

Totally in the right, and the owner will be appreciative when you tell him, I would think.

Anybody can board my boat at anytime if the reason is to fend off another boat that could possibly cause damage. I would do the same for any other boater. Now if there is no reason for alarm and no other boats are approaching, I would expect people to stay off my boat unless they want to be subject to a rather loud alarm installed by the previous owner.

While at the club it would be considered an obligation to act in this manner if possible. Away from the club I would still act as you did unless I saw a "keep off" sign, big dog, kilos of cocaine or other deterent.

From now on, the only boat you don't board to prevent an accident is the guy that said you did the wrong thing. Let him sink.

Good Job!!:smt038

I do it all the time when I am in a transient spot and my boat is the last one in line of 4 boats (don’t know the correct dock term here)! You have to cross to get to your boat

Unzip my canvas, go through my cockpit, open my center windshield, run across my bow and keep that rogue boater from hitting my bow.

Last year there was a new boater on the next dock I saw really struggling to get into his slip. His wife was scared and had small kids on board so I ran up the docks jumped onto the boat he was about to hit. I kept him from crashing and was able to talk him out of trouble directing him what to do with the throttle. They were so thankful and I am sure the guy next to them would have appreciated me doing this.

Pres - you could be my dock neighbor anytime!

Mark

As a realitvely new boater I have yet to experience some of the mentioned senerios, but how about this as a general thought.........

Don't do anything to his boat that you wouldn't want him doing to yours.

ie: Prevent damage.....Thank you Sir. Hang your towles on my bow rails...Not so much.

You could even LEAVE black marks on my boat! The footprints would show me exactly what you were doing too! Anytime!

Would you board another boat without permission?
I do all the time !!!. I'm up every morning at 5:00am i go around and check on every boat [ 120 slips ] in the marina. I retie lines if needed after a wind storm if someone left something on i turn it off. All have thanked me many times for doing this. Plus the pay is good they give me free beer. :smt038.

i would VERY thankful if you jumped on my boat to prevent another boat from hitting it! What you did was RIGHT. The person who told you that you were wrong is an idiot.

Im thankful that most of my dockmates are exactly like YOU and not like the person who said you were wrong.

There's would be many beers coming your way if you helped prevent my boat from getting hit, thats for sure.

Well Done!

I did the same thing last weekend. A fellow boaters line came unattached on the rear and the boat started to violently hit the edge, scratches everywhere, so myself and friends jumped on the boat and retied the rear.

No owner to be found..
