I have a 1995 175 w/ a 3.0 in it and I am getting just under 4000 at WOT. I am getting about 35 mph top speed. I recently put a 14x23P prop on the boat. I am looking for the best setup but I dont know too much about what these numbers mean. thanks for your help!

Go to the www.searay.com website. The "service" section offers a prop chart. It looks like they suggest a 13.75 X 21 prop. They list 4800 as WOT(wide open throttle) RPM's. As I understand it... the first number is the size of the prop and the second number is the pitch or angle of the blades. If you go back and decrease the pitch from 23 to 21 and put the right size prop on, you would likely get closer to 4400-4800 RPM's. Good luck, Brian

Assuming the above information is correct, it sounds like you are WAY overpropped (which matches your symptoms). You engine is trying to push too much water and bogging down -> sort of like a car towing too heavy of a load.
