Worth Repowering a 260 Dancer from 5.0 to 383?

Go for it, that 5.0 is a slug, I've owned 3 of them. 32mph feels soo sloow

The last 2 were in a 280 Dancer, which was the most power offered in that boat.

I see .I have a 73 searay with the 302. Super easy to work on. It's a heavy ship. With full gas tank and 500 pounds of people and supplies it does 28mph at about 3500 rpms. We were on the suwannee river going upstream. The suwannee is strong and wide. But cruising at around 22mph at just under 3000 rpms seems to be comfortable. It's not a gas guzzler at all. We went a long ways and back on a quarter of a tank.
