Last week l re-launched my 1999 260 Sundancer after her winter layup. Whilst she it was out the water I had the bellows inspected and was told they would be good for another couple of seasons. I took the boat out at the weekend and quickly realised that when the leg was turned to either port or starboard that a distinct rumbling could be heard....no obvious sound when travelling in a straight line. Does this suggest that water is getting (or has gotten) into the leg and is causing corrosion and damage to either the U-Joint or Gimble? Is it possble that it's something far less troublesome? I am tempted to have her lifted out immediately and stripped down but that seems like overkill at this early stage, particularly as it would cost me about USD 800 just to have her lifted and relaunched, then there's the cost of the labour to have the leg stripped down. Could the noise be something that is fairly normal/common for the Bravo Two Leg and something that can be addressed when it is lifted at the end of the season. The boat generally gets very little use during a season anyway. Is there any form of lubrication that can be performed whilst she is still in the water that may help? Thanks in advance for any of your comments and advice as I am rather troubled by the issue at the moment....

I had the same symptoms with my previous boat which had a 3.0L w/ an alpha 1 outdrive. It was the gimbal bearing. I used it another couple months until the end of season but it got worse with time. Depending on how much you use your boat and it being early in the season you may want to have it replaced now.
