Maybe someone knows where I can get a replacement panel for my new GPS. I looked in the SR parts manual and they offer panels with cutouts for like the C80 and a few others. I need one with a cutout for a Raymarine RC435. Anyone know where I can order a panel with this cutout? I do not have the proper equipment to order a blank panel and do the cut myself.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated, a blank panel is like $111, not something I can trial and error on. Thanks.

Contact Scott Cambra at www.vectorled.com you might have to send him your panel. Also, there are several higher end audio/video companies on our Lake that would do the whole install for you for less than $200. I'm sure if you call around you can find someone local that is reasonable.

Dan, thanks, I have contacted Scott and will see what he says. I wil let you know what happens. I realize it'll cost me and it'll be worth the cost to have it looking professional.

Thanks again.

Stan,
Not really much to it, all you need is a cordless drill with a 3/8" bit, a scroll or jigsaw with a fine tooth blade and some masking tape or 2" painters tape. Remove the panel so you can work on it indoors, tape the template supplied in the instructions. To help prevent any chipping apply the 2" painters tape first and draw the cutout outline on the tape. Drill holes in the corners and cut out the opening. Remove the tape and you have a clean professional hole. The unit, once flushmounted, covers the opening making it invisible even if it's imperfect. Then put the $200 in the gas tank.

Thanks for the tip. If I were even close to be good at cutting stuff, I have trouble with paper and scissors, I'd attempt it. But the admiral would notice every little imperfection and every time we get to the boat she'd be sure to point it out to me!!!!! So not having that aggravation is worth the few $$ I'm gonna spend. And you know I am going to tell the admiral I am going to do it myself, her reply will be, "sweetie have someone else do it and I'll pay for it!"

Ulterior motive, you betcha!!!!

It doesn't have to perfect - the GPS actually has a lip that covers imperfections.
