Wood Flooring

Taco, That is lookin great! Now I really want to get going on mine. Are you going to leave the carpet on the sides of the v-berth and around the aft cabin and stairs? Im trying to come up with something other than the pretty pink carpet. LOL Might just change the color if I can not come up with something. How much grinding on the floor to get it flat? Thanx.

No grinding on the floor. I know it seems to be pretty wavy, but the flooring went down well and was flat enough for me. You cannot feel or see the imperfections in the new floor.

I left the carpet in the stair well I don't know what to put there yet. I think that I am going to glue the Allure to the stair well.

Thank you all! I am very happy with it so far. After pulling the carpet, I had enough room to slide the flooring under all of the cabinetry and dinette seats.

Little tip:
I used a pry bar to lift the all the furniture(cabinets, dinette and v-berth bed/wall) and slid the flooring under the walls. This meant no little to no cuts around the walls and a very solid floor.

Again, I'll take some better photos tonight.

Good to know I dont have do a big grind on the floor, boy that would make a hell of a mess! Thanx for the heads up.

Looks good, I'm thinking of trying to install it right over the carpet, sort of like an underlayment. I like the idea of sliding it under the cabinets.

Scorpio-

You might just want to pull the carpet, it wasn't that bad. It had been so moist in the past that the glue was very broken down.

I would worry about water collecting in the carpet under the flooring. It may be like a wick and grab all moisture and keep it under the Allure floor.

Oh yeah! We haven't named her yet. I was rocking my little daughter this morning and thought... Rock a by baby!

What do you all think of that name...

Rocka by Baby?

Great pics and it looks good! I was wondering about the steps and was messing with a sample piece at Home Depot. I thought it MIGHT be flexible enough to bend around the front of the steps. Do you think it would or would it just crack and break? I thought I could glue it and then screw the bottom edge in or glue it around the lip of the step? Got any scrap pieces you could try that on? It would make it easier to finish the steps IF it works.

Was thinking that too, but worried it will crack. Don't want to put anything on the steps that would pose a tripping hazard.

Sundancer. I was playing with a few samples as well. I used a heat gun, warmed it up pretty good, and was able to bend it 90 degrees over a piece of 3/4" plywood. Could work on the stairs?

You may have other options for your stairs.
Mine were curved on the front edge, so I pulled them and used them as templates for new Jatoba Brazilian Cherry Wood.
I still need to make the top fixed right corner piece, and the bottom riser installed.
The top step is hinged to get at battery switches and fresh water pump.

The flooring is 5/16" Engineered T&G Glued Down Brazilian Cherry.
I just need to complete the 'T' Moulding around the sump access.

Or you might try looking at this web site.
www.starecasing.com

It is a new wood product that goes right over your treads and risers.
Available in multiple species and finishes.

Being in the building/remodeling industry it has a lot of potential.
I am going to a seminar on this product tomorrow.
If I had straight stairs I would probably used this option.

Dan, thanx. That stair overlay is pretty cool! If they have it in something that matches the teak, I would use it.

They do have a teak option.
Went to seminar and very impressed.
Also you can get any of the species of wood unfinished and stain it to match your own flooring.

Very good product for the money.
Keeps effort to a minimum on the stairs.

Awesome, I will use it. Thanx Dan.

Engineered wooden flooring are most popular for use among solid and laminate wood flooring, engineered wood flooring can refinish but not every time like other flooring's. Since it is a natural product price will depend upon the availability of certain types of lumber.

The pictures displayed are fantastic, the work is really tremendous even I was planning on hardwood flooring, I found some dealers online in New York city, I am impressed with their work but I am not sure if I should hire them, I would like to have suggestions regarding this. I would be glad if someone insists me what to do about this.
