I have a 340DA with closed cooled engines. I know i need to winterize the heat exchangers. Is it as easy is just pouring anti freeze in the sea strainer area and running a few gallons thru???

That is what i was told, but it seems to simple to be true:huh:

You need to run Antifreeze throught the engine and transmission heat exchangers. I do it like this:
I went to a plumbing suppy store and bought 2 1 1/4" and 2 3/4" brass Ts nipples, 1/2 in hose connections, and four brass hoss caps. I also bought three ball valves from Harbor Frieght. I put all my connections, but the AC T, before the sea water strainers. For the Engines, I plan on filling my pink container (bought from West Marine) with 4 gallons (for each engine) of Pink and attaching it to the hose fitting I put on my Ts. I will then open the ball valve and start the engine. When I see pink comming out to the exhaust over flow, I will stop the engine, close my ball valve then do the next engine.

BTW, I blew ou my AC with with my compress attached to my T. I did not put pink in it...

I have sterndrives, but I just connect my jug to muffs, start the engine and run till pink comes out, then fog engine till it stalls. Been doing that for years without a problem. Gotta love those closed cooling systems! Guys in the marina with inboards usually just disconnect the raw water hose from the intake, connect to the big jug, and do the same thing.
