I wanna change the stereo in my 185 from the factory Sony to a Clarion. Is there a quick connect wiring harness available or would I have to cut the factory wiring and splice it to the new deck?

Check with a vehicle/marine audio shop. As a dealer in Australia, we can purchase through one of our suppliers, adaptors from some brand cabling to other. Not all, but some

I swapped out my stock Clarion with a newer Clarion and I had to splice the wiring harness, as they had different connector to the back of the receiver.

I swapped my original Clarion for a new JVC and like joenomad I had to do some splicing as the connectors were different. It wasn't too bad though and I did the entire swap out including wiring two new speakers in the front bow area in about an hour and a half.

Most likely no. In a car, there is the vehicle wiring harness which is custom to the vehicle manufacturer making it easier for companies to produce a harness that will work in many different cars. In the boat, the stereo manufacturers harness is just spliced into the boats harness. So you would in effect need an adapter from sony to clarion, which I have never seen.

I just swapped out a Clarion for a Kenwood and had to cut the wires as I had to use the wiring harness that came with the Kenwood. I purchased some clear bell shaped plastic connectors that allowed me to twist the wires and them crimp them with a pair of pliers. The metal in the connector sealed the wires and the plastic protected them. It was easy. Get more connectors than you need. They are cheap. Good luck!

Did mine today, had to cut the factory harness but ended up running mostly new wires since I went ahead and wired in an amp. Takes a bit more time but I suggest sodering and heat shrink wrapping all the connections.
