I am looking to add a spotlight to our 06 340. Not sure why it doesn't have one, however We travel alot at night and a spotlight needs to be added. I am looking at the golight hid, chrome, remote.
However, Does anyone know if the 340 was prewired for a spotlight? I have looked in the anchor locker but do not see any wires that could be for a spotlight. I have searched the wiring diagram with no avail. I need at least 10 amps for this light. I was thinking of tapping off the main bus for the windlass for the power source, however I believe but haven't tried yet that this may be powered by the windlass switch On the dash.
Any help or wiring ideas would be appreciated.

First, I hope you understand that the spot light is not to be used while underway generally, and only when moving slowly trying to spot nav-aids or unmarked things. They really kill night vision for you and any other boat around you.

Second, I am sure a lot of others will say that you are better off with a 12v handheld waterproof spot light for a lot of reasons.

That said, despite advice to the contrary, I added a Jabsco remote spot to my 330. The wiring was a pain in the a$$ to run from the bow pulpit (fiberglass on mine) through the cabin and up to the helm, but with a wire snake and some time and frustration, I was able to get it wired. It does work well, but I don't use it much since I try to avoid night travel where I need a spot light to see where I am. I would suggest you save the money for something else and buy a good quality handheld.

Creekwood, what do you mean I can't travel with my spotlight while underway!! Sorry if my post suggested such. Lets just say as one that enforces the laws on the water I fully understand your concern. There are many boaters that have no what do we call it "common sense"!!

Back to the light. I have used a handheld on my sea ray previously and thought i would like to free up my hands a little. Yes i was looking at the route to snake the wires, it doesnt look fun. I appreciate your thoughts, thanks

Not that I recommend it, but you could always put it on the arch for an easier install...there are plusses & minus's to this approach though.
