I am intereested in putting a wireless weather station on the boat with the display mounted somewhere in the salon. Does anyone have a unit that they would recommend as far as standing up to the coastal elements and one with well rounded data ?Thanks in advance, Jeff

I have had a Oregon Scientific Advanced Weather Station with Atomic Time - Weather 500 unit for at least 3 years. I have it in the salon with a remote temperature/humidity sensor and readout at the helm. It is very helpful and reliable, but then I'm only interested in the salon temp and humidity, the helm temp and humidity, and whatever forecasting it provides. For long cruises it (e.g., NC to FL) it is helpful to know at a glance what the outside conditions are as you rise in the morning. Whatever Oregon Scientific model you need, I think you will find them rugged and reliable. Hope this helps with your product search.

I have one of these on my boat:

It ties into the boat's NMEA network and I get all the data on my instruments, iPad, iPhone, laptop, etc.... No moving parts and acts as a backup GPS in case the Raymarine one fails. It also does a calculation so you get true wind speed even when the boat is moving... Doesn't have a rain gauge but covers all the other basic readings (temp, barameter, etc.)
