Wireless Router trouble accessing CSR

At the bottom of the add trusted site window, there is check box you can uncheck to not require https.

Can you temporarily plug your notebook into your router with a network cable and turn off the wireless radio on your notebook to see if that makes a difference?

Gary,

I called one of my friends who is good with computers and he gave me his service providers DSN numbers and we plugged those into my router still no success. I have unplugged the router and the modem. He wants me to try plugging the modem directly into the computer to see if it is in fact the router. We shall see.

Will try this with the trusted sites, I must have missed that.

I have tried plugging directly with no success. I am going to try going directly to the modem without going through the router.

Well.. If you typed in the IP address and it can't get there, it's not a DNS issue.

Do you know if you are getting a dynamic IP address from a DHCP server (probably your router)? Or have you set up a fixed IP address? Have you ever used traceroute?

You have my email address (real one)... If you want, send me an email and I can try and help you if you send me some screen shots.

Wes...........another thought. Turn your router off and unplug it from the modem cable for a little while. Sometimes when you plug it back in your IP provider assigns you a different IP number. I don't know if that will help or not but it's worth a shot.

You can check your IP number both before and after by using this http://whatismyipaddress.com/

My Turn to take a stab at it.....

1. Go to a command prompt and type ping 208.78.40.47
Post the results of that.

2. This laptop that can't connect is wireless, like others said did you try plugging it into the router? Does it work that way?

3. Are there any other computers wireless or wired on this router that you can try do they work?

Thanks everyone for the help, after four months of me cussing the computer (yes Gary I some times will cuss but never in writing) Bill was able to figure out the problem. Very nice guy with alot of patience. Turns out I was not crazy Jim you had my mac address (???) blocked. We tried everything to no prevail and then Bill said ok lets try one more thing. She worked like a charm.

Now if Jim ever tries to block me out Bill has showed me the trick to by-pass it. :smt043:thumbsup::smt043

Thanks again Bill and everyone else, I owe you one!!

When we plugged directly to the modem worked like a charm. Pluged back directly into router and ping 5 times 100% loss. None of the other computers worked on this router but neighbors worked good.

Glad you got it working but I don't think it was Jim, I think it's your ISP trying to keep you from using more then 1 pc on their cable modem.

I'm going to guess Bill showed you how to put a different mac address in the router.

Nope. In this case I think we get to blame Jim, or at least "his people" :smt024. Wesley was not having problems accessing any other site while connected through his router. He just couldn't open CSR, so Time Warner wasn't blocking his routers MAC. But as soon we changed his routers MAC, CSR started working.

Now back to Wesley's regularly scheduled moderating....

You guys are awesome!!!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

WES,

I had the same exact problem. I couldn't get on www.clubsearay.com and one other site. I spent hours on the phone with Habib. I even tried to upgrade my firmware. When Habib had me upgrade my firmware a 2nd time, by router blew up!!!!! I could ping the router but whenever I tried to load anything to the router or look at the configuration, I got nothing. So I spent hours on the phone with Habib's wife and still nothing. So I had to send my router back to LINKSYS and they repalce it for me. The new one works fine.
