Wondering if anyone has tried the wireless HDMI (or WHDI) for their home? I would like to put a TV on my porch but it would be difficult to run wires out there. Looking for the two way version so I can change the channel on the cable box that will be in the house on another TV set.

Here is one of the products. http://nyrius.com/product/ARIES_Home_Plus_Wireless_HDMI_2_Input_Transmitter_ Receiver_Streaming_HD_1080p_3D_Video.eng-23.html

Thanks,
T

I have installed a wireless HDMI unit on my boat (1997 450 Sundancer). I have replaced the salon TV with a larger LED flat screen that I store in the opening by the couch (but not a good location to view a TV). The HDMI transmitter is mounted under the salon couch with a wireless selector allowing connection to all HDMI devices. The receiver unit is velcroed to the back of the TV. When I want to watch a DVD, satellite TV or internet TV I move the TV with HDMI receiver to the counter in the salon across from the salon couch, or move the TV and receiver to the back deck to watch the TV or to the dock plug in the AC and I am ready. I really like the flexibility and lack of cables to run.

what brand did you go with. Distance is not a big issue for you like it could be in a house. I assume you have wifi on the boat as well then?

Does your TV supplier have a wireless version of their cable/satellite receiver? I know that Dish, Direct, and ATT (U-verse) all have wireless boxes. I believe Comcast has them in some areas now. Not sure about other companies. I have personally used the Dish and U-verse products and they work very well. The Dish product works best and actually sets up a separate wireless network just for their receivers so that it doesn't slow down your main wifi. I actually setup a TV on my personal boat dock for an early season football game and streamed from the house with the Dish wireless "Joey" (about 250 feet from the house).
