Wipers a mystery

my 270 AJ hardtop has the wipers from hell. I've tried pushing ,pulling Feel pretty stupid right now. Whats the trick? would like to get them apart and check the shaft size and try to convert to a panagraph blade.projects going good post some pics later.

Mine has a small Allen screw to hold it on. It was corroded and I had to use a grabbix or and easy out to get the screw out.
