reposting with type of boat ... sorry ... thought it showed up in header ... newbie learning site.

2006 Sea Ray 44 Sedan Bridge ... do they make off the shelf covers for the vents so you don't loose the heat out of the bilge

I stuff foam in mine. My 290 had snap on canvas covers. Have not seen off the shelve covers.

Welcome to CSR, neighbor! Some of my dockmates have snap-on canvas covers; they look great and are very convenient. (Quint4 might be able to hook you up with customs.... )

If you want to use foam, small-cell type like car washing sponges or mattress toppers/furniture cushions is dense yet flexible, easy to cut to the size/shape you want, and soft so as not to scratch the finish. In our climate, I like something easy to remove and replace without using tape, so we can launch readily.

I'm on Priest....which lake do you call home? Always nice to meet fellow Sea Ray enthusiasts!

I would think the snaps look ugly the rest of the year.

Agree. I would go with the foam stuffing solution or attach some flaps that just cover the vents onto the cockpit cover. Maybe make them furry like a Davie Crockett hat:smt001. I personally don't bother. My largest bill was $13 heating the boat several years ago but I'm a little farther south.

Now that I think about it, some heavy rubber matting that snapped onto the cover would be ideal.

Thank you all for the tips. We will consider the possibilities for next winter as we are on Old Hickory Lake.
