Winterizing issue

7.4 MPI mercruiser/ V drives
when I winterized our 2000 340 this year I had the antifreeze run out onto the ground around the shaft. The port side was leaking considerably more than the starboard.
Is this a issue with the drip less seal. If so do I need to pull the motors to fix it.

Thank you for any input on this.

I don’t think it’s an issue with your dripless unless it’s leaking inside and you can verify that . It could be your Raw water impeller not pushing as much water, or could’ve been air in the system as you were winterizing it , if it’s not leaking inside the boat I wouldn’t be concerned about an issue with your dripless.

It is normal for the antifreeze to run out of the bottom of the boat around the shaft when winterizing. I actually clamp off the lines to the seals when winterizing so that all the antifreeze goes through the raw water system and isn’t wasted. When I release the clamps after finishing, whatever a/f was left in the system runs out around the shaft.

There is no water entering the boat so all is good. Your reply’s are greatly appreciated.

Thank you
