Winterizing CAT 3126

Frank,

650 is too low for idle on the 3116/3126. They should be around 750. Idle speeds set too low increase valve train wear ..............

Frank - i am going down to the boat today and will increase the idle and see what happens. i will remove the transmission cooler hose if that doesnt work. Thanks for the help, Walt

Frank------ Typo but thanks....She does idle at 750. Appreciate the correction.

Frank - Success....all it needed was a few more RPM's and the antifreeze went out the side!! She's all winterized now.... Thanks much for the advice, Walt

This thread makes me very happy that my 'winterizing' consisted of 1) pumping the waste tank, 2) draining freshwater systems, 3) emptying the refrigerator - then watching the Travellift carry my baby inside the heated storage building...ooops...forgot 4) turn off battery solenoids.
