Hello fellow members,

I purchased a new 2011 175 with mercruiser alpha I MPI engine in mid July. I managed to put 15 hours but still shy of the 20 required break in hours. I'm wondering if I should do the oil change now as part of the winterizing process, or wait until next season when I reach 20 hours. I'm told that the original oil is non-synthetic but has abrasive elements to break in the engine components. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

You always change the fluids before winter starts. There could be moisture in the used oil which will cause problems when stored for the winter months with freezing temps.

Thanks, I will change out the old oil this week.
