This is my first year winterizing my 1997 400EC. I have 7.4L MPI's with closed cooling systems. I am wondering what precautions need to be taken to insure enough antifreeze (pink) is run through the raw water portion of the engine cooling system to insure protection of the water cooled manifolds and the exhaust mufflers. The exhaust mufflers look huge and it looks like that might take a lot of "pink". Can anyone help this first timer?

I had the same engines in my `98 330DA. I ran about 6 gallons through each engine for three cold winters in NJ and never had a problem.

Where are you located....????

Good luck...

Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Thanks. I was hoing to get by with less than that but I don't understand the structure within the mufflers and how much water is in them. I'll plan on about 6 gals a side. Thanks again.
