Just purchased a Sea Ray 420 Sundancer. Previous boat was a Carver 366 Aft Cabin. I always had the Carver winterized even though we ran bilge heaters and a space heater in the cabin. Kept the boat toasty all winter. Boat is kept under a covered dock in the Midwest (Oklahoma) and it normally doesn't get that bad during the winters. The Sundancer has quality bilge heaters. Can I heat the boat through the winter without winterizing? Our dock has a generator in case of power outage. I also have the ability to run space heaters in the cabin area. Need some info on the pros and cons of trying this. I can post more info if necessary.

winterizing has the advantage of peace of mind in case the heaters and or power fails. Costs to winterize s cheap compared to replacement.

sounds like your dock has the main reason folks here don't like heating during the winter....you've done it before no reason why you can't with this boat. I'm seriously thinking the same thing myself...bilge heater and a space heater in the cabin....my neighbor lives in condos right at the Marina and keeps an eye on things.

thats the same pic that everyone posts on this subject......plenty of folks doing it I'm sure....can't live life being afraid of what MIGHT happen....of course you want to be cautious. If your in a covered slip snow MIGHT collapse the roof and crush your boat...if your not in a covered slip a boat MIGHT come loose and smash your boat OR space junk MIGHT land on your boat. I get it.... its just that with due diligence you can eliminate a lot of the danger if your capable.

You're obviously very smart. Let's get together in 5 years and compare capabilities
