Winterization Requirements

I have a sea Ray 340 that I keep in Annapolis Maryland. Every other year I leave it in the water for the winter. When I leave it in the water I completely winterize the boat except for the engines (I have an engine compartment heater).

I use the boat over the winter but this year wanted to not Winterize the head, sink and heater system. I have two electric heaters that keep the boat at 73 degree's and run the boat heating system as well during the winter. I also keep a bubbler under the boat to keep any ice from occurring.

Do I need to do anything else? Will the water system be ok since I run continuous heat? Should I add anything to the water? My concern of course is something freezes and breaks in the hull.

Since I spend some weekends in the winter on the boat I like to keep the sink and head system running.

I would be worried about the water system.the problem I see is the water lines often run against the hull sides where there is possibly no heat.Maybe if you could leave all cabinets open you might get heat out to the water pipes but it still probably gets pretty cold up against the outsides of the hull.I would make sure to leave the pump off just in case a line did freeze and pop,it wouldn't keep pumping.

If you are keepin the interior at 73 I wouldn't worry about a thing! You will have enough heat transfer to keep anything from freezing. Relax & Enjoy! :thumbsup:

I disconnect the city inlet, transom shower, and cockpit sink (blow out lines and cap the manifold) the bilge heater takes care of the rest of the water system inside the compartment - inside the cabin I keep it 45-50 degrees when i'm not there and have never had a problem. BTW I winterize the mains (raw water cooled, do not want to crack a block if the power goes out for an extended amt of time) as well as the A/C
