Has anyone replaced the motor assembly that opens the windshield vent? Mine just quit working and it appears that it is getting power when the dashboard switch is depressed. Wires all look OK. Guess it's one of many thing that don't work forever. Anyone know the manufacturer or where I can get the part?

Assist it by hand with someone holding the switch. Lube the exteneded ram with WD 40 or the like and run it a couple of times and see if that helps. I was in the same situation and found this out quite by accident when I oversprayed some PB2 on the actuator when cleaning the dash.

It's worth a shot.

David is Right. Mine did the same thing because it sat for 5 months. The window "sticks".
Did as David suggested and presto it works. Good Luck, JC

Ditto here also!

The windshield vent linear actuator on my 03 420DA failed this season. No amount of lube, jiggling the vent, swearing at it, etc. would fix the problem. I ordered a new actuator from the dealer. $335, or about as much as the much larger linear actuators that lift the ER hatch in a 420/44DA. It is a relatively simple swap to install the new actuator.

steal the one from the power helm seat, unless you move that back and forth a lot

I wonder if one of your local generator shops, or other electric motor shop, could fix that thing for you. They fixed my windlass motor for $75.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll certainly try to lube it first, although it just seems dead (don't have one on my helm seat). Guess anything you can fix for $335 is not too bad. Right now I'm having a problem getting the screw aout of the front clip (that goes around the tube attached to the windshield. Cain't budge it even with an impact driver) -too much salt water. Thanks again.

I did not have good luck with the white l grease, in time it will slow things down, its to heavy and will thicken and gunk up. I would release it from the window , spin the shaft out and clean and heavily irrigate the shaft and housing with zep preserve or wd 40.Also never open the hatch all the way as it will stick open.

mine went out today on my 2005 390 sundancer. i get a click when i hit the down switch but no noise when i try to open the vent. i will try lube tomorrow and i already tried pushing it by hand while someone hit the switch.

Yes, I just ordered it from my Sea Ray dealer this year because of a leak. It was expensive! But, no more leak now.

In earlier threads on this subject, a number of posters said that it is not a good idea to open the vent window to the stop. I know that doesn't help you out now, but it is a practice that may help prolong the life of your next motor.

I started this thread-here's the end result. Sea Ray's part is now $379 and has only 4" travel vs. 6" for the old one. It is a light duty linear accuator made by Warner Electric. They have a new series of model numbers which they can convert. From what I have now it can be prchased for around $200 (with the origional 6" travel).

I called the mfg here in ct and it was 250 for the same unit, just dont tell them its for a searay, otherwise they may refer you back to them.

I had the same problem. Just get the numbers off your actuator and call the distributor (mine was a 512-09a4-06). Here is Warners homepage; go to distributor locator http://www.warnerelectric.com/productsframe.htm, put in your zip and Voila! the name of your distributor. For me in Florida it was Power & Pumps (954)584-1340. They sold it to me for $223 which included shipping. Local Sea Ray dealer $379.
