    Hi All,

The windshield vent actuator on my 300da has died. It is a Thomson unit with # S12 09A8 04CE. I am looking at buying an replacement from another OEM which is about half the price of buying from sea ray. However, I need to know what the "throw" is - how far the actuator actually moves from fully retracted to fully extended. Anyone know if I'm looking for 4" throw or 6" throw?

Ditto on the 4" stroke. Are you sure the existing one is dead? Couple of weeks ago, mine quit working and would only "click". I disconnected it from the vent window by removing the "T" bar then got out on the deck and unscrewed the ram until it started turning the gears. Applied lithium grease to it, screwed in back into position, reattached the hardware and it works great..FYI: I did price out the oem replacement and it was going to be close to $400 including S&H.

Good point. Mine was the same way and fixed it the same as Windjammer. Now it works. If you do need a replacement I measured mine today and it's a 4" throw. Same boat. Good luck. Brian

    Hi everyone,

just browsing this form, I actually have a bayliner and not a sea ray but getting lots of useful information from this site.
I had a similar issue and used the same actuator as you from http://www.progressiveautomations.com , it worked well and was cheaper then the OEM.
but I have another question, does anyone know of a site where i can get cheap boat covers to cover my boat during the winter? it stays on the water all year round and its not a covered slip so i need something hopefully cheap that i can use to stop snow, rain and fungus from getting in the interior.

I apologize in advance if i posted in the wrong area i'm new to the whole internet posting thing.

I've been doing mine for years also....but here's a thing about them, don't leave it open all the way. Run it up and then back it down a hair. They tend to get "stuck" in the full open position.

I have a 2003 290 Amberjack and my actuator died on me just the other day... I opened the window but when I tried to close it... nothing happened. I took the entire unit off the boat and disassembled both the extender and the motor... the extender worked fine when I turned the gears by hand and that's how I measured the 4" throw. The motor however would not budge at all so it is offically dead. The OEM item (in my case - PN 1100262) is over $400 from SeaRay so your link was very much appreciated. It looks as if it is a perfect match. Thanks

Bought the progressive actuator and been trying to hook up... getting reading or 12volts and negative 12 volts at the leads coming out where actuator was... connected the new actuator and nothing.... checked my switch checked everything it's getting proper power and amps just not working I'm stumped... I got the p14 4 stroke with 35-50... I thought it be actuator but hooked directly to battery worked fine... any suggestions?

You say it's getting proper amps? How many amps are you pulling when connected and activated at 1) the window and 2) direct at the battery? Might be some corrosion at a switch or junction reducing the ability to get proper power from the DC system. Your multimeter needs to have a DC AMPS function and you insert the leads of the multimeter in-line with the POSITIVE wire.

Progressive Automation doesn't sell the 15 lb version anymore. And 35 Lb will likely break the glass. The Sea Ray parts manual states ACTUATOR, ELEC W/S VENT 4"8P which I believe means 4" stroke with 8 pounds of force.

Now that Progressive doesn't sell the 15lb actuator anymore, does anyone have a contact for a decently priced actuator?

Has anyone tried the 35lb version from Progressive?

Ordered and installed the PA-14-4-35 which I believe is the 35lb model several years ago (maybe 2014). Has worked fine with no issues.

I'd be careful with the 35lb version without some validations. The glass is getting very hard to find and you DO NOT want to take risks with an overpowered actuator. Anyone put a call into progressive?
