Windshield Screw Cover

Knot It ..... Please post up a picture of what this looks like installed.

Thanks
I dont have any pictures of my boat after the replacement but look at post #8 above. Mine looks just like what you see in those pictures. Before replacement, my original rubber pieces had shrunk badly and about 2 inches on each end exposing the trough or channel.

Thanks folks.

This site is great.

I'm going to add this to my todo list for this year.

For those looking for part numbers for your original foam you can look on your parts list for your boat. For my 98 290 it was listed on page 2 of the parts manual in the same section as the windshield pieces. 983312 is the number for my foam which cross references to 8349030 for the new rubber trim.

And thanks to Strecker25 .... been my go to for many things 98 290 related.

I have also FINALLY confirmed that the replacement screw cover vinyl is 8349030. Terra at Taylor Products would not even guess as to which one it could have been originally. She did eventually narrow it down to two and shipped me samples of each to confirm it. I think what made this difficult with my situation was that even Sea Ray couldn't find any parts lists for my boat because of its origin. Well, my journey is over and I ordered everything I purchased through Taylor products. Even with the handling fee, it was cheaper than Flounder Pounder. Flounder Pounder didn't even stock all the other vinyls I needed. Thanks for the help on this site.

Well worth the cost to replace the rubbers.
8349040 is the part # for the 450DA in case anyone needs it.
$7/ft and 31 feet required. Flounder Pounder are excellent to deal with.

I just did mine last week. resealed all screws and replaced windshield gasket screw covering. Fisheries has the best price but is an hour drive away so I went to West Marine and with their new policy, they price matched 4 x 8' did the trick...
https://www.fisheriessupply.com/taco-marine-tco-v30-0750b8-1-v30-0750b8-1 $20.44 per 8' or $2.50 per foot - read the dimensions, identical to Taylor Made rip off price.... Just saying !

I just purchased the screw cover and figured I would reseal the screws as well. Are these just regular screws that I can remove, put in sealant and screw back in or is there some kind of backing plate set up that I have to get to from the bottom?

Thanks

Normal screws. Direct into fiberglass.

Do every other screw and then back around doing the ones you skipped per FW instructions to me when I did mine. You do not want the windshield to shift at all. I believe I used 4200 as the sealant.

The screw cover vinyl will shrink. I replaced mine last year. I left it out in the sun for a few weeks before cutting it to install it.

Thanks for the info. Is the resealing of all the screws something i should do as a preventative maintenance item? Or are these something I should leave alone unless I have a problem?

If you are going to keep the boat, waiting for the problem to surface will mean you are faced with an expensive problem to solve. Like most issues, it is better to head them off when they are most manageable. You should check areas with screws with a moisture meter to see if there are indications of water infiltration. If you have water, those areas need to be dried out before doing your PM.
