Hi, I recently brought a Sea Ray Sundancer 29 (1992) and am in need of replacing the rubberized seals around the flybridge windows (Think I termed that correctly!). I will probably but the seals myself and get someone to fit them. As I am new to this I suspect that the whole window section would need to be removed (Big job?). Can anyone direct me to some youtube videos just to give me an idea what the process is (Def not gonna do it myself). Or do you just dig out the existing seals and glue new ones in?. Finally any idea on the cost of such a job?.

Be gentle with me as I'm kinda new to all this.

Thanks,
Indy

Are you talking the seal around the window/frame or the screw cover foam at the bottom of the window? The bottom foam is cheap and easy to replace the other I'm not familiar with.

Hi Little Ducky

Thanks for your reply.

To be fair I have no idea (All around all the windows by the looks of it), the photo I attached shows the rubberised seal is old and perishing (Looks and feels kind of spongy and looks like it's lost its surface - Look at the corners).

I think I may be talking more about where the windshield physically fits to the boat, there is a seal in-between the two, which runs all the way around the windshield.

I am having the boat lifted in a month for an anti-foul, and will enquire a little more at that time, but just thought I would see what you lot thought or could recommend.

Cheers,

Hi again,

Both look good, and it looks like it's something I can do myself and save money.
I'll check to see if there are a few youtube videos available.

Many thanks LD

With all this talk about this seal here lately I’m going to replace mine as well. Here’s a picture of what it is. Just foam. Pull it out, cut and replace. I’m going to go back with the rubber replacement for a cleaner look.

It looks like it is only the screw cover foam that needs replacing, not the screw-back rubber/foam.

My reason for wanting to do this was because I had a slight leak through the headliner and wanted to stop it before I put the final foam-backed vinyl up.

It actually looks like the leak is coming from where a rail is bolted down through the grp, feels solid enough but water is water and can get in anywhere.

I wonder if you can order the foam trim an inch too long to allow for the shrinkage which always happens. I wonder why it is not "force fit" to allow for shrinkage? You never see a SR windshield where the foam is the correct length after a couple of years in the sun.
