Anybody replace their screens on the windows and if so, any tips ?

Source for the screens?

also, want to replace the cockpit carpet. I work with an upholstery shop and i think they can do this, but don't know if there are any special considerations with this replacement. I know the fit has to be right on with all the snaps, etc.

One other thing, if i wanted to get some boarding mats and have them logo'd, anybody have a good source for these?

Thanks for any help here....John

John, I just sent my old carpets as templates to SNAPINCARPETS.COM. I would try them first. They did some work for DancinDave and it really looked good. Go to the virtual marina and look at his. Are you keeping your 450? JC
I have not had to replace screens yet.

Thank you JC, will give him a call.

Still have the boat, but always open for options.

Hope all good with your buy.

Right now, replacing all the dash panels, swapping out the Raymarine for a Furuno Navnetvx2 system and getting ready for the 1000 islands in June. Get to go to Scotland for a week of golf in 2 weeks and then a real fun lawsuit in September.

Going for good boat therapy jun-jul-aug.

Uncle Buck, as JC stated Custom marine carpets (snapincarpets.com is the way to go. Call John. As far as the screens go, mine have been carefully cut out and will not be replaced. I will open the deck hatches for screened air, portholes stay shut. The last thing anyone needs is a porthole which has been forgotten about.

I replaced all of my porthole screens last year. I made a cardboard template of the portholes (which I hung on to), scraped out all of the screens and replaced them with ordinary screening and medium strenth cement. I do not think stainless steel screening is necessary but it is personal choice. The dog ear nuts must be tightened every couple of weeks as the material settles.

Hope this helps. Six windows took one hour to install and they keep the interior bone dry.

Bill, your boat is nice. Question, am I I'm missing something, how do screens keep everything bone dry? :smt017

unclbuck and Dancin Dave:

Oops!. I replaced my screens when the port holes began to leak, so I replaced the gaskets, the source of the leak, and all of the screen material. Now everything is dry. Dave raises another point as well, if you are going to replace the screens, you should also inspect those gaskets.

As for the camper canvas, it is great. I also have screens for all of the side panels. I can take them down in five minutes and fifteen minutes to put them back up.

Contact Taylor Made for the screens, give them your boat info and they will have new screens and gaskets in the mail to you in a day. They are very reasonable and easy to deal with.
