Window Gasket

I am rebuilding the windows on a 89 340 sedan bridge. I was able to find the correct taylor made external gasket for the window but I am unsure what the glass sits in. The current setup has the glass set in some sort of black butyl or silicone sealant as this is oozing out from under the glass (perhaps never cleaned after re-caulking). Here you can see the sealant leaking out and the terrible tint job.

Here is the frame out of the boat. There is channel at the top for the exterior gasket. There is a narrower channel below that. Does this receive a gasket or is the bead of sealant the correct approach here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
