my windless seems to not have much power. Pulling up it struggled not under a big load and then stopped. Motor wasn’t hot amd solenoid just clicked. Waited a few minutes and finished bringing it up. Ideas on 1/2 power and stopping half way?? Thanks!

Poor electrical connection? Look for corrosion at all terminals. See if connections get warm when in use, telltale sign of bad connections.

I had similar issues. Troubleshot everything I could find with no success. Turns out it was a voltage issue. If i used windlass without engines on or with at low idol it would run really slow and eventually stop. As the windlass would run it would drop the voltage below 12v. I just bump up my starboard idol to about 1000 rpms and it has worked since.

I had a similar issue that the windless would stop intrrmittently....always at the worst times. I needed to perform the old "motor reset" technique to get it working again (banging on the windless motor with a hammer).

My fix was a psuedo rebuild of the windless motor itself. The brushes were wearing in a way that would cause them to bind, and loose connection to the stator.

My recommendation is to pull the motor and have it rebuilt. If you are handy, this is a garage / bench top project

Edit: this was on my 2005 280 DA
