I recently purchased a 2006 Sea Ray 340. I looked down in the rope stow for the windlass and noticed a thick green wire that is not connected. It shows wear like it has been connected before, but cannot find where it goes. Windlass works good but sometimes trips breaker. Anyone know where this wire may need to be connected? Black and red wires that are same thickness are connected to windlass motor.

CalmCrews - that large green wire is part of your bonding system to prevent corrosion. It attaches to the motor. Just attach it to one of the larger motor screws. Mine is attached to the motor casing itself.

My guess, PO or someone didn't know what it was for and left it that way. Did you have boat surveyed? Surveyor should have picked that up, if didn't - would certainly inquire as to why. Then wonder what else they missed / overlooked.

No didn’t have it surveyed. So the only screws on the motor is the ground and hot. So put it with the ground?
