Anyone have any ideasI i have a 2001 28' br with a lofrans marlin low profile windlass. I had a problem sinse last season where the unit is making a clicking noise. I pulled the unit appart and sent it out to get the motpr checked out. The eletric motor repair center found no problem and said every thing inside look new. I replaced the seals on the housing and add new oil while i had it apart, and founf to have the same problem. Has any one else had the same problem?

Low voltage is probably the culprit. Clean all contact surfaces from battery to motor. tighten and try again. Corrosion on electric cables is a prime reason for failure.

Next is Weak battery

Next is weak alternator

You should have 14+V at the battery when the engine(s) is running.

BTW, it is best to never use the windless unless the engines are running.
