windlass clutch

i have a 2005 390 sundancer. Last week i was bringing up the anchor using
the windlass when the rope kept slipping. the clutch lock was broken. i replaced the lock and the anchor rope is still slipping. any ideas on my problem?

you need to tighten up clutch first ant lock it afterward

Is the rode slipping on the head or is the clutch slipping. If it's the rode it my be getting hardened form the elements. If so cut it back or swap it out. Also make sure the finger is making tension

Exact same issue yesterday during pre-deliver inspection on our new 05, 390. They were showing us how to adjust the cluck when it jambed. He fixed it by getting second winch handle from another boat and with both handles in gave it a mid wrap with his hands. It grabbed back on and we could further adjust the cluch. I'll try to open up and see if any thing need lubrication.mike

do not lubricate clutch or will slip much easier
